Regional Affairs Manager – North West

We offer a range of professional services to our members - principally regarding HR & legal, health & safety, climate & environmental advisory, training & consultancy and work with a broad range of businesses, including world-renowned, blue-chip organisations.
As a Regional Affairs Manager, you will be looking to raise the profile and influence of EEF within the North West; promoting manufacturing and manufacturers within the region and attracting new members by communicating the benefits of EEF membership and by creating a desire to be part of our manufacturing community.
Key responsibilities:
• Develop and implement a regional Media & PR strategy to build the brand and profile of EEF
• Increase EEF’s regional presence such that we become to ‘go to’ organisation for manufacturing businesses
• Work with the marketing and telesales team to ensure that this awareness and interest is translated into new member acquisition
• Collate regional member views in order to develop and promote regional policy positions and ensure they are reflected in National Policy positions
• Define and execute a regional policy engagement strategy
• Build and maintain relationships with key regional stakeholders and policy makers - Local Authorities, Local Enterprise Partnerships, BIS Local, UKTI, other business organisations, devolved authorities, MPs, Civil Servants etc.
• Represent EEF at regional events/stakeholder meetings
• Identify members as media spokespeople for regional policy initiatives
• Communicate regional policy positions/wins to members/media/stakeholders
• Co-ordinate visits of senior EEF personnel and national/regional policy makers/ stakeholders to member sites
Skills & experience:
• Degree level education, ideally in a relevant subject (business, economics, politics)
• Broad-based business experience, which has encompassed policy, external affairs, marketing and communications
• A good understanding of the business environment within the North West
• A strong personal network within the North West
• Personal gravitas, combined with excellent communication skills
• A track record of representing an organisation, including working with the media and public speaking
• An understanding of the manufacturing and engineering sector
• Experience of working with and influencing local government and other regional stakeholders would be beneficial
• Previous experience of working with a membership organisation/mission-led organisation is desirable
• Ability to work cross-functionally in a complex, matrix structure
• As a field based role, a valid UK driving licence is essential
