We have a great opportunity for an Employment Law specialist to join our specialist Advice Line team in Birmingham.

 

In this role you will work under the direction of, and in conjunction with, the Head of HR & Legal, to provide employment law advice and assistance to our clients, as well as legal support to other units of the business.

 

We are a membership organisation and the UKs leading trade body focused in the Manufacturing and Engineering Sector. We offer a range of professional services to our members and also to non-member organisations - principally HR & legal, health & safety, climate & environmental advisory, training & consultancy.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • To give comprehensive and timely advice via our Advice Line to member companies on all matters pertaining to employment law and employee relations. The role may also include giving advice and assistance to member companies by visits or in writing.

 

  • To draft or scrutinize settlement agreements, contracts of employment, policies, procedures and other employment related documents.

 

  • To maintain a high standard of professional knowledge and expertise by appropriate research, scrutiny of published information and training.

 

  • To comply with office procedures relating to the co-ordination and monitoring of work.

 

  • To assist the relevant Head of HR & Legal and other Advisers as and when requested.

 

  • To work closely with other departments in the retention and recruitment of members.

 

  • To identify and, if possible, assist in the procurement of additional fee-paying work for the company.

 

  • To undertake such other work (within your professional capability) as is necessary to achieve the overall objectives of the business.

 

 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

 

•           Post-Qualified experience in employment law

•           Experience of advising clients in employment law

•           Experience of drafting employment documentation

•           Experience of advice recording

•           Ability to give practical, commercial advice on employment law issues

•           Ability to analyse and explain complex issues

•           Ability to prioritise

•           Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – both written and verbal

•           Strong IT skills (specifically Outlook, Word and Internet)
