EEF has a new opportunity to join us as a Senior Employment Law Advocate, working in a field based role, on a national basis, with the majority of cases being situated within The Midlands and South of England.

 

In this role, your responsibility will be to liaise with EEF members in relation to conducting employment litigation in the employment tribunal or the county court, providing end to end advice and assistance, including advocacy. You will be working interesting, complex, cases, with quality clients and will be working under the direction of, and in conjunction with, our Regional Heads of HR & Legal.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • To attend member companies and client’s meetings, whether on site or at EEF’s premises, to establish case facts/background
  • To advise upon and conduct County Court proceedings regarding employment and employment related matters.
  • To conduct and prepare all casework in relation to Employment Tribunal litigation locally, regionally and nationally for members/clients, including drafting of all papers, negotiating with third parties, conciliating via ACAS, preparation of bundles, drafting witness statements, drafting skeletons/ submissions, attendance at preliminary and full hearings and advocacy.
  • To maintain a high standard of professional knowledge and continuous improvement
  • To assist the Regional Heads of HR & Legal to enable them to achieve their objectives and other Advisers as and when so requested.

 

 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

 

  • Minimum of 3 years PQE in employment law
  • Experience of advising clients in employment law, employee relations, human resources, (and commercial law)
  • Proven successful track record in handling tribunal cases, case management and advocacy experience, including advocacy at full merits hearing
  • Experienced in Employment Tribunal claims, including litigation, drafting pleadings, ET3, disclosure, drafting witness statements and conducting the day-to-day management of the claims
  • Knowledge of Employment Law including employee relations, human resources management and trade unions issues
  • Knowledge of Commercial and Civil Law and practice
  • Has a commercial approach and an understanding of members needs
  • The ability to put clients at ease
  • Experienced in working to deadlines and of prioritising work
  • Excellent negotiation skills
